Design internship at Gemm (now Riff)
About Riff: Riff (formerly Gemm) is a US-based payments platform built for the creator economy, one place for creators to track brand deals, run payouts, and handle taxes, instead of a spreadsheet and a stack of apps that don’t talk to each other.
My role
Product design intern, working across product UX, visual systems, and brand, alongside the founding team.
Wearing every hat
Creators run real businesses now, juggling brand deals, payouts, and taxes, and Gemm pulls that mess into one place. At a pre-seed company there’s no room to specialize, and I loved that. I owned product flows, built out a design system, and shaped brand work, often all in the same day. Moving between those modes that fluidly, holding craft and shipping speed at once, is the range I’m proud to bring.
The founders’ fundraising film
The piece I’m proudest of: I made the WeFunder pitch film the founders used to raise. Being trusted with something that directly shapes whether the company gets funded, as the design intern, is exactly the kind of range a pre-seed team needs, and getting to deliver on it was the highlight of the internship.
What I took away
Working inside an early-stage startup meant moving fast, owning decisions end to end, and wearing several hats at once. It sharpened how I think about product UX and design systems, and, just as much, how I collaborate with engineers and founders when everything is moving quickly and nothing is fully defined yet.
